15 Minute Bunny - FREE Crochet pattern
I’ve created this pattern as I needed a quick pattern to make about 50 of these little guys, to gift them to the kids in my daughter’s nursery class and to other children around the school.
They were very well received and many asked for the pattern , so here it is .
This is the first pattern I designed and I did my best to explain the process to the best of my abilities but If you have any questions , please don’t hesitate to contact me
To crochet this bunny you will need:
- Any size / type yarn and corresponding crochet hook ( For this tutorial I used bulky chenille yarn and a size 5 crochet hook )
- safety eyes or black yarn to embroider the eyes instead
- Toy stuffing
- Pink yarn for his nose
- Embroidery needle and scissors

Abbreviations (US)
R = round/row
mr = magic ring
ch = chain
st(s) = stitch(es)
sc = single crochet
dc= double crochet
hdc= half double crochet
inc = increase
dec = decrease
PS: puff stitch
Puff stitch
- Yarn over (as if you were going to make a half double crochet). Insert your hook into the indicated stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop. (You’ll have 3 loops on your hook.)
- Yarn over, insert your hook into the same stitch, and pull up a loop. (5 loops on the hook.)
- Yarn over, insert your hook into the same stitch, and pull up a loop. (7 loops on the hook.)
- Yarn over, insert your hook into the same stitch, and pull up a loop. (9 loops on the hook.)
- Yarn over one last time and pull through all loops.
- Optional Step: Chain one to secure the top of the puff stitch
Ears - make 2
Make a slipknot . Chain 5. In the 2nd chain from the hook , make a DC, a HDC and a SC
Body
R1: 8 sc in MR (8)
R2: Inc x 8 (16)
R3-R4: 16 sc (16)
R5: 5 sc , PS , 4 sc , Ps , 5 sc (16)
R6: 16 sc (16)
R7: 6 sc ,PS , 3 sc , PS, 5 sc (16)
Now we attach the ears as well as the eyes .
Attach eyes between R3 and R4, about 4 stitches apart .
Attaching the ears :
Using your crochet hook or a needle , pull one end of the ear through the top of the head ( the magic ring ) and into the inside of the bunny . Bring the second end through a side stitch between R1 and R2. Turn bunny inside out and tie the 2 ends together with several knots.
Repeat for the 2nd ear
Now we continue to the bunny’s body -
R8 : dec x 8 (8)
Stuff and fasten off
Nose
Using pink yarn or the colour of your choice , embroider the nose , in between the eyes .
